Hello, friends!

We're an orphanage based in the East African country of Uganda, located in the small village of Buyomba in the Buikwe District, about 70km outside of the capital city of Kampala.

Hope & Faith Orphanage

My name is Reagan Suubi, and I go by Suubi––it means "hope" in the Luganda language. I founded Hope & Faith Orphanage in 2017 because I know what it means to be an orphan. I was raised from childhood as an orphan myself. I know firsthand what it feels like to be alone and to rely on the kindness of others for love and care.

Hope & Faith Orphanage is driven by love. We aim to feed, clothe, educate, and provide safe shelter and medical care to the orphans of our small district. We started out with just 5 orphans and today we have 25 orphans in our care. They range in age from infancy to early adolescence. We have a goal of eventually increasing the number of orphans in our care to 50, with the generous support of our donors.

The Buikwe District, where we are located, has been severely impacted over the years by diseases like malaria. Due to poor healthcare in the area, many lives have been lost, leaving many orphans. In Uganda, malaria kills 320 people every day––more people than any other disease.

The death toll from malaria is more than that of HIV/AIDS and TB combined. Most of the deaths occur in children younger than 5 years of age, but adults are also affected. Together with deaths from AIDS and TB, malaria has left many of our children orphaned.

There is a need to help more orphaned children in Buikwe, but we can’t do it without your support.

Every donation counts towards critical efforts like shelter, sanitation, food, clothing, and medicine. For example, in 2019 we were able to construct a new toilet at the orphanage. We achieved this through the joint commitment of a few wonderful donors working hard to make it happen. A toilet might not sound like much to some people reading this, but it was life-changing for our children.

Our sponsors have trust in us because they see what their donations do through pictures and video. We make cards for them thanking them for their efforts and enjoy sharing our gratitude on our Instagram account (follow along here and say hello)!

Currently, we are raising funds to construct dormitories and hope to complete the project before the end of this year with the help of our generous donors. We always update donors on our progress via Instagram. Every donation means so much to us.

Just $1 can feed a child for a day––every single donation really does count.

Thank you for supporting our work.

With gratitude and blessings,

Suubi
